Drivers going near Stansted and driving on the M11 and A120 warned that there will be roadworks from Friday, May 5, through until summer.

Maintenance is being carried out on the M11 at Junction 8, the turn-off for Stansted Airport. The slip roads leading to and from the A120 will be closed over five weekends from 9pm on Fridays until 6am on Mondays, with the first of these being this weekend, May 5 to 8.

The slip roads will be closed for three week nights between 8pm and 6am, with access on and around Priory Wood roundabout restricted.

When the roads are closed, drivers will be diverted via the Priory Wood roundabout and Birchanger roundabout to join the M11 at junction 8.

The maintenance package will also include a number of schemes on the M11 and A120 being undertaken for the coming weeks.

Work includes resurfacing patches of the M11 in both directions between junctions 6 and 8, and the slip roads at junctions 8 and 8A.

Repairing embankments will take place on the M11 at the junction 7 northbound exit slip road, on the M11 southbound between junctions 7 and 8, and the road bridge crossing the M11 at Cantelupe Farm between junctions 11 and 12.

There will be replacement of street lights with energy efficient models on the M11 northbound entry slip road at junction 12, drainage repairs
