The student Eco Team at the Christian School in Takeley are "thrilled" to have been recognised with the Woodland Trust Green Tree School gold award.
Schools are awarded for doing environmental projects such as tree planting, reducing CO2 emissions and visiting woods.
Points are collected for each environmental activity pupils complete, progressing through bronze, silver and gold levels up to the prestigious platinum award.

A wooden plaque was sent to the school to mark the team's achievement, and was received Year 11 pupil Elena Nikolova, who is chair of the Eco Team, and Eco Team staff mentor Kate Wilkinson.
The Eco Team is now working towards the platinum award.
A message from the Woodland Trust said: "Congratulations on reaching gold level."
