Year 1 pupils at Howe Green House School in Great Hallingbury enjoyed a "magical" trip to Epping Forest.
The children created woodland art using crayons, leaves and bark, and searched for mini beasts such as newts and worms on the forest floor.
Pupils learnt about the woodland through different games and activities, looking at the needs of all the different animals that live in this unique habitat.
A spokesperson for the school said: "A great day of outdoor learning and lots of fun!"
