A series of drop-in exhibitions have been held across the district for residents and businesses to find out more about Uttlesford's draft Local Plan.

Events were held in Takeley, Saffron Walden, Manuden, Great Dunmow and Newport, with around 700 people attending in total.

Cllr John Evans, Uttlesford District Council's portfolio holder for planning, said: "It was encouraging to see such attendances and enthusiastic participation at the exhibition events, with so many people coming out to discuss the draft local plan with officers and members.

"There is now a little more than two weeks before the consultation closes, and we would encourage everyone to visit the UDC website to find out how they can have their say.

"We encourage and welcome all feedback and the comments made will help to shape the plan."

For anyone who was unable to attend the exhibitions, the display panels are available to view on the council's website.

Residents can also visit an information point at the Uttlesford District Council offices in Saffron Walden during normal opening hours, which provides a more general overview of the draft plan.

In addition, a consultation information booklet was recently delivered to households in Uttlesford, and a digital copy of the booklet can be found on the council's website.

Submitted comments will be accepted up to 5pm on Monday, December 18.

According to the anticipated timeline, in early 2024 the council will consider consultation feedback and make revisions to the plan as appropriate.

They will then put together the final version of the plan, including any modifications.

A public consultation on the final version will then be held in summer 2024.

By the end of next year, the Local Plan will be submitted to the Planning Inspectorate for consideration.

In 2025 there will be a public examination and hearing sessions, and the council will receive the Planning Inspector's report.

The Local Plan - Uttlesford's first since the previous one was adopted in 2005 - should then be adopted in 2026.
