Newport and High Easter are set to benefit from the expansion of Finchingfield's Mobile Post Office service from next month.

Finchingfield Post Office has revealed plans for the mobile service to serve two new communities following the closure of the Newport branch.

A permanent mobile service for Newport will be located at Waterloo House, High Street every Tuesday from 1.15 to 2.45pm, starting from May 7.

High Easter's existing outreach service at Snug at the Garage is set to close, with the new mobile service to operate from the Village Hall car park every Friday from 1pm to 2pm, starting on May 10.

Zoe Hall, Post Office change manager, said: “We are delighted to be adding High Easter and Newport to the Finchingfield Mobile Post Office service.”

Meanwhile, Wethersfield Base Mobile Service will close on April 30 at 4.30pm and West Wickham Mobile Service will close on May 2 at 3pm, due to dwindling customer numbers.

Currently, the Mobile Post Office serves 17 communities across Essex, Cambridgeshire and West Suffolk.
