Flowers and artwork were on display at Finchingfield and Cornish Hall End Horticultural Society's Spring Show.

The show was held earlier this month at Finchingfield Village Hall.

There were 61 classes in six sections - flowers, floral art, cookery, handicraft, children's and photography.

More than 220 entries were displayed - an increase on the 2023 show - including a spring display by Finchingfield St John the Baptist Academy.

Society president Linda Turner said: "All the entries were a real credit to all our competitors and made a wonderful, colourful and interesting show for everyone to enjoy, including the many visitors who came during the afternoon."

The red rosette for best exhibition in each section went to Liz Drane for flowers and for floral art, Linda Turner for cookery and Marie Bell for handicraft.

The Daffodil Society diplomas for best bloom and best vase also went to Liz Drane, along with the Flo Hardy Memorial Bowl for best vase of cut spring flowers.

Meanwhile the under-fives special prize of a signed book went to Isabel Barker.

Trophies were also awarded for the most points in each section. The flower cup went to Liz Drane, the children's shield to Harry Loneragan, the cookery shield to Linda Turner, the handicraft trophy to Kate Worrall, the floral art novice cup to Iggy Gwynne and the floral art shield was jointly presented to Liz Drane and Linda Turner.

Linda added: "We would like to thank everyone who took part and those who helped make our show such a success.

"From our hard-working committee to the volunteers setting up on Friday evening, to stewarding, preparing and serving lunch for our judges, making cakes and running the afternoon teas, tombola and raffle on show day.

The next event will take place at 7.30pm on Thursday, June 13 at The Guildhall .

Archie Ruggles-Brise will present a talk on beavers and farming at Spains Hall, with entry £3 for non-members and free for members.
