A senior crime prevention officer from Essex Police visited Dunmow Probus Club to teach members about fraud and scams.
Tammy Blest works in close liaison with Action Fraud UK, who report that North Essex is the worst region for scams in the country.
Forty-one per cent of reported crime falls into the fraud or scam category, and only three per cent end in prosecutions because the perpetrators are outside the UK.
