Old Park Meadow Natural Burial Ground near Dunmow has got involved with a "thought-provoking" new art exhibition in Chelmsford.

The natural burial ground gets involved with charities and initiatives throughout Essex, and its most recent involvement is working with Compassionate Communities on the exhibition.

The Mid and South Essex Compassionate Communities Campaign Art Exhibition is being held in the centre of Chelmsford until Sunday, November 3 at The Art Place in the Meadows Shopping Centre.

It was officially opened by Lord Lieutenant of Essex Jennifer Tolhurst, and showcases the work of 56 local artists on the theme of 'celebrating living, caring and dying'.

The art on display reflects personal experiences and stories in a range of media including painting, drawing, photography, art, sculpture, writing, poetry and music.

Old Park Meadow has been the subject of inspiration for artist Tracey Ingram, who painted the burial ground's landscape.

This exhibition is the latest initiative from Mid and South Essex Compassionate Communities Campaign, which is a collaboration of community groups and organisations, including universities, colleges, libraries and art galleries, charities, and health and social care.

Their aim is to "improve awareness and discussions around death, dying and bereavement, to create compassionate communities that care for and support one another during these times".

The Compassionate Communities Art Exhibition is free to enter. For opening times of The Art Place, go to www.ideashubchelmsford.org/the-art-place.
