Dunmow Probus Club member John Newman spoke to fellow members about his "varied and exciting" career on the police force.
Two years ago, John spoke to the group about his teenage life doing voluntary services overseas on the Gilbert and Ellice Islands, which he now deems as a coral atoll.

His latest talk was therefore called 'What happened after the coral atoll?', and described his time apprehending criminals in central London, before being posted to the Westminster area.
John explained that Downing Street then was a more open place, with people allowed in for a cup of tea with then-Prime Minister Harold Wilson.
After leaving the police, John married his wife Sogra and finished his career working for several blue chip companies.
