A primary school is set to install new LED floodlighting for an existing all weather pitch after plans were backed by the council.

Rodings Primary School in Dunmow Road, Leaden Roding has had the backing of Uttlesford Council in the plans.

The council planning officer’s report states that the structures would be eight metres in height.

The report states that there were limited concerns with the floodlighting structures and flood lighting shields, although, officers have requested such details from the applicant.

According to the report, a submitted site plan indicates there will be four structures to be installed at the site which is considered appropriate, but this plan has not been to scale and, furthermore, accurate plans of the floodlights have not been submitted with the application.

The report states: "While it is acknowledged the floodlights will install structures to the site, in terms impact to openness, this will be limited as the structures will likely be slim structures to illuminate an existing sports area to the school.

"Given the nature of the development it is considered that there would be limited harms to nearby sensitive receptors, such as residential dwellings.

"While the floodlighting will enable the pitch to be used later in the evenings and this, as a result, could increase noise implications to nearby dwellings.

"However, this application is not changing the time restrictions of the site.

“While liaising with the applicant regarding the hours of use of the pitch, it was stated that there may be an intention to explore wider community use of the pitch, although, this does not form part of this application.

"The application form also states the hours of use is not relevant to this application.

"Given the distance the proposal is from the public highway, the Highway Authority noted they do not have comments for this application."
