Six primary schools in the Dunmow area have been recognised for their support of students with ADHD.

Felsted, Thaxted, Rodings, Great Bardfield, Great Dunmow and Stebbing primary schools - which are all part of the Dunmow Excellence in Education Partnership (DEEP) cluster - have earned the ADHD Friendly Schools Award.

The ADHD Foundation Neurodiversity Charity awarded the schools for putting in place methods to help students feel included and succeed, especially those with ADHD and other conditions.

Bryony Collins, headteacher at Felsted Primary, said: "This partnership of schools has taken a significant step to support pupils with neurodiversity.

"Our staff’s dedication has made a positive impact, and our children have benefitted immensely. We’re committed to continuing this journey."

The DEEP cluster schools have adapted their environments with sensory walls, movement breaks and outdoor learning opportunities, along with wellbeing initiatives such as buddy systems and yoga clubs.

Teachers also received training, and the schools provided resources for families - including SEND family forums and weekly updates.

Colin Foley, training director at the ADHD Foundation, said: "Staff across these schools have creatively integrated support systems that make a daily difference for students who might find school challenging, creating a truly inclusive environment."
