After a five-week break for Christmas, snow and ice, High Easter returned to action in the Chelmsford Sunday League in style - beating Little Waltham in the Coward Cup.
The 3-0 success in the first-round match came courtesy of a brace from Mahen'a Kadimba and one for Emilio Caceres Sola.
But it was only possible after the hard work of press officer Brian Hockley and player Adam Griggs, the pair making the pitch playable to the satisfaction of referee Mark Bradshaw.
The teams had met in November when a serious injury to a Little Waltham player forced the abandonment of the game with Easter 3-2 up.
This time though, there was no unfortunate ending as Sola and Kadimba put on a masterclass performance with superb play and excellent finishing.
The first half was an even encounter with both teams creating chances but none were taken until just before the break, Kadimba firing in a great shot to make it 1-0.
High Easter then took control in the second half with several players having shots on target.
And it wasn't long before a wonderfully whipped free-kick from Sola found the top corner.
Six minutes later brilliant control from Sola found his strike partner with a neat pass and Kadimba made no mistake to send Easter through to a second-round clash with Bramston.
