A knockout athletics event almost ended with two winners from Grange Farm & Dunmow Runners.
The 400m knockout challenge was held at Braintree's athletic track and saw 23 athletes from eight clubs take part.
The format sees runners progress through rounds of 400m with the last finisher being pulled out each round.
The ladies event was won by GFDR's Alex Cross but there was agony in the men's event for team-mate Arron Clark.
He was beaten into second place after a thrillingly close finish by defending champion Oscar Graham-Pereira, the pair having gone through 19 previous battles to get to the head to head.
