A young racing driver from Great Dunmow had the challenge of a new car and co-driver as he headed back to Wales for a forest rally - and he came away with a fantastic result.

Alfie Hammond was driving the Dylan Davies Rallying prepared Subaru Impreza at the Cambrian Rally and ended with a third place in his class and 11th overall.

All of that was made even more impressive when you consider the 20-year-old had only sat in the car for the first time an hour before the race started.

It was also his first time in a turbo charged car with the Subaru significantly more powerful
than anything he had rallied before.

It all added to the sweet taste of success.

Hammond said: "I have always loved the Cambrian Rally and to get the chance to compete
in a Subaru Impreza was immense.

"I’m looking forward to rallying in 2025 and possibly something special before then.”

Co driver Harry Walshaw, a veteran of more than 30 rallies this year, said: "Alfie has amazing car control. He delivers great pace, and this reflects in the great result we got for our first full rally together time in a new car."

Hammond and AWH Motorsport are working hard on rally plans for 2025 and hope to be on stage and at finish lines a whole lot more than this year.

Hammond expressed his gratitude to all who have, and continue to support him, including lead sponsor Octane Partners.
